Speaking in Tongues

A couple Sundays ago, I (Helen) had the opportunity to preach at our church, Okotoks Alliance. This summer OAC is going through a “You Asked For It Series;” members of the congregation posed questions about the Bible, theology, life in Christ, etc., in the hopes of hearing a sermon on each topic. In addition to our pastors preaching, there have been some guest speakers addressing these questions, of which I was very honored to be a part! My question was:

What’s up with the spiritual gift of tongues? Is that still a gift for believers today? If it is, why don’t we hear it at OAC? Is it active today? I’ve heard people speaking in tongues without an interpreter…is that biblical?

My “answer” (sermon), from 1 Corinthians 12-14, is below.
